Open Call for Submissions
Open call for submissions: June 14th through June 25th, 2021.
Accepting all genres!
NEW DEGREE PRESS, an IBPA-recognized Hybrid Publisher, is seeking original novella- and novel-length manuscripts (30,000 - 85,000 words).
Have a completed or nearly-completed manuscript that needs a little help? Perhaps a trunk book you’ve been meaning to spruce up and prepare for publishing for however-many years? Need help building your reader audience and social media reach? NDP has editors on staff who specialize in horror (such as Bram Stoker Award®-winning / Shirley Jackson Award-nominated editor Michael Bailey), as well as professionals in literary fiction, science-fiction, fantasy, young adult, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, memoir, and more.
Submission guidelines: .DOC, .DOCX, or .PDF
12pt Times New Roman; double-spaced; 1-inch margins.
No reprints. No simultaneous submissions. No graphic violence or explicit sex.
Word count must fall between 35,000 and 85,000 (hard low and high limits). NDP is not interested in short stories, fiction collections, poetry collections, or anthologies at this time, nor collaborative works of any kind.
Manuscripts that do not follow submission guidelines will be returned with instructions on how to resubmit, if needed, as well as manuscripts received prior to or after the open call for submissions.
All manuscripts must be received no later than June 25th at 12:00 CST.
Editors at New Degree Press will evaluate each submission received. For manuscripts that fit within the submission guidelines, authors of such works will be contacted with more information. NDP will assist authors on a crowdsourcing campaign to raise funds to cover all publishing costs, with options available for e-book, trade paperback, hardcover, and audiobook. Current success rate of NEW DEGREE PRESS campaigns is above 90%.
Also known as author-assisted or entrepreneurial publishing, hybrid publishing helps bridge the gap between self-publishing and traditional publishing, and is not “vanity” publishing.
Funds raised in these campaigns are designed to cover publishing costs, such as editing, marketing, cover design, typesetting, shipping costs for backed books, etc. Funds raised over the needed amounts are returned to the author.
All rights and royalties are forever retained by the author.
